Purity  [ Return towards  Laboratories & Analysis  ]

Purity - Have you got the right balance?

Are you controlling critical impurities in the right place?

5 Levels of Purity...

5 Levels of Purity

The complicating factor is that all of this has to be completed within budget constraints – therefore it is imperative to strike the right balance between maintaining standards, protecting assets and finding an economic solution.

The appeal of a high purity gas which minimises these impurities at the outlet of a cylinder is therefore quite apparent. The problem is that the outlet of the cylinder is often far removed from the inlet of the analytical equipment and this is the point where we should really be concerned about impurity levels.

A good analyst is only as good as the tools at their disposal. Part of that package is ensuring that carrier gases and other gas requirements do not contain impurities that can influence the analysis or shorten the life of critical components of equipment.

Between the cylinder outlet and the analytical equipment it has been proven in both tests and experience there is the potential for significant degradation of the gas quality. Therefore investing to ensure high quality gas is available from the cylinder outlet does not mean that all the elements of the required solution are necessarily in balance.

Do you have the optimum economic solution for your operation?

Air Liquide have taken a different view of how to get the balance right.

First of all we have looked at the gas itself, and we have produced a dedicated range of Pure Gases for Laboratory Analysis - Alphagaz™. These cylinders are ergonomically packaged for the laboratory market, and come with a certificate of conformity listing the maximum levels of the critical impurities of moisture, oxygen and hydrocarbons.

To more exactly match your analytical requirements we offer two levels of purity - Alphagaz™ 1 and Alphagaz™ 2. The former is generally suitable for analysis at percent to ppm range. For more detailed analytical techniques then we would propose Alphagaz 2™, to ensure you are using the appropriate purity of gas that is required for your application.

To complete the process we have a range of Alphagaz™ Purifiers. These are in-line purifiers, designed to sit at the inlet to your analytical equipment, to ensure removal of any contamination that might arise between the cylinder and the analytical equipment. The Alphagaz™ solution gives you piece of mind on purity along with supply integrity in an economically acceptable packaged offer.

If you would like Air Liquide to assess your systems then we have a team of regionally based specialists who can conduct a review of your operation and propose an appropriate Alphagaz solution please contact us:
